NOTICE OF OPEN MEETING & VOTE TO CLOSE PART OF THE MEETING
Notice is hereby given that the City of Memphis Board of Aldermen will conduct an open meeting at
6:30 pm on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at the Memphis City Hall, 125 W. Jefferson, Memphis, Missouri.
The tentative agenda of this meeting includes:

AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A DEMOLITION CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF MEMPHIS, MISSOURI, AND DERRICK FEE D/B/A RED ROCK, FOR THE PURPOSE OF THE EXCAVATION AND REMOVAL OF THE PARTIALLY COLLAPSED BUILDING LOCATED AT 101 E MONROE STREET, MEMPHIS, MISSOURI, AS THE BUILDING IN ITS CURRENT CONDITION IS DETRIMENTAL TO THE PUBLIC’S HEALTH AND SAFETY AND REQUIRES AN IMMEDIATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the Board of Aldermen of the City of Memphis, Missouri, previously declared the building located at 101 E Monroe Street, Memphis, Missouri (the “Building”) an imminent threat to the public’s health and safety due to its partial collapse;
WHEREAS, the owner of the Building has failed to take any action to remove or remedy the hazard, and the Building in its current condition is detrimental to the public’s health and safety and requires an immediate resolution;
WHEREAS, the City of Memphis, Missouri, requested sealed bids from qualified contractors for the excavation and removal of debris to remove the public health and safety hazard of the partially collapsed Building located at 101 E Monroe Street, Memphis, Missouri;
WHEREAS, the sealed bids were opened at the regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen for the City of Memphis, Missouri, on December 7, 2023, and
WHEREAS, the Board of Aldermen voted to accept the bid of Derrick Fee D/B/A Red Rock.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF MEMPHIS, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The Board of Aldermen hereby approves, and the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute, on behalf of the City of Memphis, Missouri, a Demolition Contract in substantially the form of “Exhibit A” attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, with Derrick Fee D/B/A Red Rock, to serve as an independent contractor for the purpose of the excavation and removal of the partially collapsed Building located 101 E Monroe Street, Memphis, Missouri, to remove the public health and safety hazard caused by said Building. The City Administrator, City Clerk, and Mayor are further authorized to take such additional action as may be necessary or contemplated pursuant to the Demolition Contract.
Section 2. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect on and after its passage and approval by the Mayor.
