NOTICE OF OPEN MEETING & VOTE TO CLOSE PART OF THE MEETING
Notice is hereby given that the City of Memphis Board of Aldermen will conduct an open meeting at
6:30 pm on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at the Memphis City Hall, 125 W. Jefferson, Memphis, Missouri.
The tentative agenda of this meeting includes:

AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE REGULAR MUNICIPAL ELECTION FOR THE CITY OF MEMPHIS, MISSOURI, FOR THE YEAR 2024
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF MEMPHIS, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. A general election of the City of Memphis, Missouri, as provided and required by law, shall be held Tuesday, April 2, 2024, for the purpose of electing the following officers of the City of Memphis, Missouri:
SECTION 2. Said election shall be held in conformity with all ordinances of the City of Memphis and the laws of the State of Missouri governing the conduct of elections.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk is hereby directed to submit a sample ballot and the notice of election as required by law in a timely manner to the County Clerk, who is the election authority by provision of the State of Missouri.
SECTION 4. All qualified persons who wish that their names shall appear on the ballot as a candidate of said election shall file a declaration of candidacy in writing with the City Clerk no earlier than on December 5, 2023, at 8:00 a.m. and no later than December 26, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. The City Clerk shall then cause the names of all persons declaring their candidacy to be placed on a sample ballot showing such persons to be a candidate for the office to which they seek to be elected.
SECTION 5. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealed insofar as they do conflict.
SECTION 6. If any clause, word, paragraph, section, or other part or portion of this ordinance is held to be invalid, illegal, or unconstitutional for any reason, the Board of Aldermen hereby declares it would nevertheless have enacted the remaining portions thereof and such remaining portions shall remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 7. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
PASSED AFTER HAVING BEEN READ BY TITLE TWO TIMES PRIOR TO PASSAGE BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF MEMPHIS, MISSOURI, THIS 2ND DAY OF NOVEMBER, 2023.
